About the Author

James M. Porfido

James M. Porfido — Attorney and Author

A career defined by the pursuit of justice.

James M. Porfido is a Certified Criminal Trial Attorney as certified by the Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey since 1995. He earned his J.D. from the University of Bridgeport School of Law and his B.A. in Political Science from Seton Hall University.

After serving as a Judicial Clerk, he became an Assistant Prosecutor of Morris County, where he was the Chief Prosecutor of the Sex Crimes & Child Abuse Unit and the Major Crimes Vehicular Homicide Unit — leading numerous high-profile trials.

In 2002, he established his private practice focusing on criminal defense, serving clients for over 24 years before joining Einhorn Barbarito as Of Counsel in their Criminal Practice Group.

Beyond the courtroom, Porfido serves as a professor of advocacy and persuasion at Seton Hall Law School, provides pro bono representation through the New Jersey Crime Victim Law Center, and is a recognized legal analyst on Court TV.
